Haircut?

My mommy is having a hard time deciding whether or not I need a haircut so I thought maybe you could help her! To cut or not to cut?

Thanks for helping my Mommy!

Love,

Cooper

Carter is 4!

Being a mother to this precious little fella for 4 years has truly been the most wonderful, enlightening, comedic, thrilling, adventurous, anxious, nerve-wracking, spontaneous, emotional and happiest experience of my life thus far, and I wake up every day looking forward to (and worrying about) what it will bring next! It seems like it really was only a year or 2 ago that Carter was a newborn baby and the apple of my eye - where did the time go? He's gone from a helpless, totally dependent infant to a big boy who is all grown up way too quickly for me! I've loved every phase he's gone through for different reasons but I'm hoping his terrible 2s, which ended up lingering into the 3s, are behind us and that 4 will be a fun time for him and for us! I hope you are ready for some pictures!

Giraffe Cake 2 years in a row but he loves them so that I couldn't say no!

His birthday party was supposed to be a pool party but we were rained out and changed it to an indoor place called Planet Child - he and all his friends had a good time and we all stayed dry!

The birthday boy gets to ring the bell to let his friends know it's time to go to the party room - he was pretty excited about this part but his friend Kayla wasn't real appreciative of the noise as you can see!

I think Cooper looks more like their child than ours in this one!

Can you tell they have a little bit of energy?
Carter wanted to go swimming on his actual birthday and the weather wasn't the best but the birthday boy got his way and he didn't seem to mind the shade.
I love this one - his hip over to the side just makes me smile. Fishing wasn't very exciting for Carter because I think he has my patience! All he wanted to do was cast and reel it right back in.
Jamey helped Carter reel in his 1st big catch...poor turtle!
Cooper wasn't sure what to make of fishing at first so he was pretty content to watch from the bench!

Heading home after our fishing trip where we caught 2 turtles, 0 fish, and 1 metal drain (Brian I'll give you credit for that one!).

Cooper usually wants nothing to do with cake or cupcakes but actually seemed a little interested in this one! He just at a little icing and wouldn't try the cake part, though!

I love you so much, Carter, and I can't wait to see what you have in store for us this year!

A Quiet House

I must say I've had one lonesome little boy the past 2 days! Carter is in Greenwood with my parents for the week and I don't think Cooper knows what to do with himself when his big bro isn't around. We met my mom in Charlotte for "the drop-off" and ever since then all Cooper can talk about is "A-ee" as he calls Carter! On the car ride home, he took a great nap but as soon as he woke up, I could see him craning his neck as far to the left as he could to check out the empty spot where Carter's carseat normally sits. He had such a sweet, perplexed look on his face as he pointed and said "A-ee", like where in the world is he, Mommy?! It's the first thing out of his mouth when he wakes up from naps or in the morning and he'll run to Carter's room like he's looking for him.

Other than his persistent curiosity about Carter's whereabouts, he seems to be really digging life as an only child! He plays with what he wants when he wants, he gets to call the shots as to what we do, he has the whole bathtub to himself...life is pretty good! He misses him I'm sure but I think having our undivided attention has made him much happier with the current setup. Jamey and I have both said how easy it is to just have one to worry about - I don't remember feeling the same way when all we had was one child but it's funny how your perception changes after 2! I'm sure it would be the same way if we had 3 and had a week with only 2 of them, but the thought of that makes me a little sick to my stomach! I think our plate is perfectly full with what we have for now!

The saying "distance makes the heart grow fonder" has definitely been verified in our house. I miss Carter so much I don't know what to do with myself! Just thinking of his sweet little smile, his funny morning hair, the way he looks at me when he's just waking up, how I can tell by his face if he's done something he shouldn't have, how he starts any sort of sentence that is explaining why he was bad with, "Well Mommy, you know...", etc. I could go on and on but I love my almost 4 year old so much it hurts and I can't wait to see him on Friday. He is one of a kind for sure:)

Toes in The Water, "Pass" in The Sand

I guess Carter takes after me and has become a big fan of the Zac Brown Band, particularly their song Toes. On our way to the beach I asked him if he could hardly wait to have his toes in the water like the song says and he said, "Yeah, and my pass in the sand!" I never really sing that line and just let him think it says whatever but our big joke all week was how we loved having our passes in the sand:) He also told me a few days ago that he sure hates "swasses" (wasps) because they can sting you and hurt you so bad! I wish I could remember more of his funny little sayings but that's it for now!

This past week we went to White Lake to visit my friend Mandy and her 3 kids and had an awesome time! Mandy was one of my best friends growing up and we've known each other since 5th grade! I don't know how a mother of 5 children could possibly be sane after the few times I took care of 5 while we were there! Her kids are 2,3, and 4 so 5 kids 4 and under seemed pretty challenging to me! Carter is really liking playing with other kids more and more so it was fun to see him play with them so much. Cooper was a sweetheart, too, and is slowly getting out of his "cling to Mommy" phase. It makes me so happy for him to not be so dependent on me but sad, too, to realize that he's getting big so quickly! It makes me cry just thinking that my big boy is about to be 4 and my baby is almost 2! Where does the time go?!

I didn't get very many good pictures while we were there but here are a few!

This is Carter and Cooper "hiding" - hide and seek is their new favorite game. The only problem is when you say ready or not here I come, Cooper claps and says "boo" or "yeah" and Carter just comes out of his hiding spot really excited!
Sweet, solemn Carter - he can sure be precious when he wants to be!
How cute is she?!

Carter and Lexie are only a few weeks apart so they played really well together!
Rub and dub, dub...
...5 kids in a gigantic tub!

Cassie thinks it feels good to be clean!
Cooper LOVED Lexie and she was so good and patient with him, too!
Hope to see you next year White Lake...thanks Mandy, we had a blast:)

Oh Boy, A Week at The Beach!

Cooper has been picking up more and more words/phrases lately and his newest addition happened at the beach, where everything from playing outside to taking a bath meant he'd say in the most precious little voice, "Oh boy!" We had quite possibly the best week ever hanging out with the people I love the most in all the world. My birthday and my mom's were wonderful because we were able to spend them together! We had awesome food, company, weather, and of course beverages to help us enjoy ourselves to the fullest:) The boys had fun and really were troopers considering we'd head out on the beach for several hours at a time - snacks, drinks, and my lap for Cooper were the essentials to happiness and as long as Carter had a Gatorade and someone to talk to he was good to go! Cooper was quite the lap baby for the first part of the week and I've joked that I probably have the most exfoliated thighs around after his sandy little bottom went up and down on them! He warmed up quite a bit to the ocean and to everyone around him and really did have a good time! We can't thank you all enough for making it so much fun and for all you did for us! I can't wait to see you all soon and I hope you have some time on your hands for the pictures - I'm just so indecisive that I have to include them all!

This is the funniest man I've ever met, one of my parent's closest friends, and Lesley's dad. He makes everyone around him have so much more fun!
One of my good friends Lesley and her parents stayed with us Saturday night and we had the best time! She was my best friend growing up and my college roommate, but it's been a while since we've been together - funny how relationships like that never really change and you can just pick up where you left off.
Carter wasn't scared of the water at all but didn't really like the feeling of saltwater in his eyes!

Cooper loved playing in holes while Carter is in the background driving cars around his "race track". He was so good at entertaining himself and I was so thankful because Cooper was all I could handle most of the time!
I think he might think he's cool here!
Aunt Sarah, will you help me dig a hole please?
Sweet Cooper lovin' his Daddy's lap

Cooper was happy to be sitting in a lap checking out the crazy, rough ocean.
Carter took his nap on the beach everyday and was so cute sleeping!
Happy Birthday Nunu!
Cooper and Brian having story time!
Happy boy with pretty blue eyes!
Dancin' to Zac Brown with Pop, what could be more fun?!
I promise Jamey's eyes are only bloodshot from the ocean, not illegal substances! Carter asks him why he has red hairs in his eyes sometimes!
Carter ready for his kayak ride with his over-sized life jacket! The big boys tried a few boat rides but the water was too rough to have much fun out there.
I'm still cleaning sand out of Cooper's hair and ears!

Best of the bunch if only Cooper would smile!Carter adores his Nunu and so do I!
I just love this one, especially my mom's face!
Sweet Nunu reading to the boys!
Cooper pretending to sleep on the sandy blanket while Carter puts fruit snacks on his head to wake him up

Too bright for open eyes!
Cooper gritted his teeth the whole time on the beach with that wonderful noise of sand in them!
Digging holes is hard work!
Sandy Carter heading out to rinse off.
I love these boys, especially their contrasting tans:)
Smiling at 2 cameras for a birthday pic but still cute.
Cooper doesn't like cake but he sure looks curious about it! Carter on the other hand can't get enough!
Ready, set, run like the wind to the ocean!
Sweet Pop jumping waves with Cooper
I love my brother!
Showing off his "ups" on the beach!
It was so bright and windy, but we tried to smile!

I sure love Uncle Brian, especially when he flips me upside down!
Reading Brown Bear to Sarah and Pop.

Singing "Hark the Sound" for his captivated audience! This stuff feels so funny!

I love his sweet belly and profile!
Working together instead of fighting, imagine that!
