Swim Lesson Flop

I hope one day Cooper is so happy and comfortable in the water that we can all look back and laugh at where my little Michael Phelps started.  He had his first of seven swim lessons this morning and was absolutely petrified.  He talked to us about it last night when we were tucking him in and told us he didn't want to go and was really scared he was going to sink:(.  We reassured him he would be perfectly safe and that his swim teacher would be nice and would help him do everything.  He was still bargaining and reasoning to try and get out of it but we told him good night and hoped he wouldn't lose sleep worrying about it.

This morning he started almost immediately telling me he didn't want to go but I tried to not make a big deal of it and told him we were going and he would have fun, end of conversation.  I practically had to drag him onto the steps to get in the water once the time for lessons came and he was as teary and scared as he could be.  This lesson was meant for kids that didn't even need prior water exposure so I knew it would be easy stuff he already knows how to do but watching him act so scared was an awful feeling.  They started with blowing bubbles and easing into the water and then progressed to floating on their backs with the teacher's help and finished with putting their faces under and kicking with their face in once they mastered that.  Cooper did all of it with no trouble but whined, cried, and begged me to let him get out and to take him home the whole time.

After his lesson we talked a lot about it and he just kept telling me how scared he was and that he wished Carter would've been there to help him.  It was such a sweet, cute comment from him but once we talked a little more about it he came around and admitted that it was a little bit fun and that going back tomorrow might not be so bad.  I guess we'll have to wait and see but I don't think things could go much worse than they did today so I'm hoping for a much happier experience tomorrow!

My scared little boy.

He did great at floating but didn't seem to enjoy it very much!

Love this happy face!

Memorial Day Fun at the Pool

We spent as much of this weekend as possible outside in the awesome weather we were lucky enough to have!  I surprised Carter and Cooper with sparklers and snap n pops last night and needless to say, they were a big hit!  Poor Cooper and Hudson have been bitten by the fever bug as well.  Cooper had it for two days during the week and Hudson has been hot and puny for a lot of the weekend.  He's feeling much better and seemed almost himself by Monday.  He is a water bug to say the least!

They were both playing nicely with their fireworks until little pyro Carter decided to try to burn whatever he could find with his lit sparkler.  They had a blast being bad though!

Hudson wasn't sure what to think of it all and was happy to be held and watch from a distance.

First time trying corn on the cob wasn't much of a success.

Patiently waiting for break to be over!

My little aviator!

My little fish!

Pop trying to get Carter and Cooper after they got him pretty good with their squirt guns!

Slowly but surely Cooper is coming around to a summer without wings!  We've progressed from jumping off the side holding hands, to jumping off and grabbing hands, to jumping off to no one all in one day.  I think this is step two below!

Hudson has to do just what his brothers are doing so here he goes!

Trophies, Yes Please!

Soccer ended this weekend but I think the boys really had fun this year and seemed to have learned a lot from fall soccer to spring soccer.  Carter has really gotten competitive all of a sudden and tries very hard to score and play good defense to keep the other team from scoring.  He is really fast and loves to outrun the other team and cut them off before they get to the goal.  I can't imagine where that competitiveness comes from, can you?!?!  Cooper is cute and quick and still a little timid but he does play great defense and actually kept the best player on the other team from scoring a few times by getting in front of him and kicking it towards his teammates.  They are so cute and always want to be on the same team once they go from practicing to scrimmaging.  This week the coach separated them and Carter asked if Cooper could please be on his team!  They really are so sweet how much they love each other!

Hudson likes his soccer ball seat on the sidelines!

Cooper getting his trophy...I love how he can't take his eyes off of it!

Carter is like his brother in that he can't look away from the prize either!  Cooper in the background cheesing is too funny.

Hot and sweaty boys beyond happy with their new trophies!

Strawberry Picking

My mom and I took Cooper and Hudson to a local strawberry farm to pick a few last week.  Hudson has never liked strawberries before but after this trip, I'd say he has changed his mind as you'll see!  Cooper had fun and couldn't wait to get home to make strawberry cake.  After searching for recipes, I found a strawberry and lemon yogurt cake on pinterest that sounded great.  Coop helped with every step and licked the bowl clean but wouldn't come anywhere near the finished product because he didn't think it looked very yummy.  Hudson and I thought it was wonderful and were happy to have more for us!

Sorry for the quantity of my berry lover but I just couldn't resist all of these with his precious little face.

Thank You I'll Have Another

We started off last weekend literally with a bang.  Cooper slammed Hudson's pinky finger in the hinge of their bedroom door and not realizing it was his finger that was preventing the door from closing, Coop kept pushing to try and get it to close.  Poor Hudson was about as pitiful as you can imagine and cried for a good hour on and off.  Once he'd stop crying, he would come up to you with his finger out saying, "Boo boo" like please make this thing better!  Jamey took him to his mom's urgent care clinic and thankfully it wasn't broken.  I stayed home to take Carter and Cooper to soccer and we were all pretty upset to see our hurt baby boy.  Carter was crying a little bit but I thought he was just sad Hudson was hurt so I sat down to talk to him and cheer him up only to realize he was burning up.  His temp was 104 and he felt every bit of that poor buddy.  After some motrin he was as good as new and was thankfully over his fever bug by the next day, as long as he had a little motrin and tylenol on board!

Saturday had thus far not gone as planned but the night ended up just great.  My parents were planning to have us over for dinner to watch The Preakness so we headed over with one well, one wounded and one feverish little guy.  Carter was better quickly once we got there and loved eating the garnishes for our Black-Eyed Susans that my mom made!  Don't worry, he only had the ones that had not been used in our drinks!  I luckily picked The Kentucky Derby winner a few weeks ago purely by fluke but who doesn't want to see their horse win again so Carter and I had our money on I'll Have Another.  Nunu picked Bodemeister once again and I can't remember Pop or Jamey's pick, but I know Jamey's finished dead last;)!  It was a fun race to watch and Carter and I were pretty excited our horse pulled out a win once again!

Sick Carter getting some yummy cherries and oranges from Pop.

Perched to watch the horses run with Pop.

This boy loves playing at Nunu and Pop's, especially with their bubble maker.

All smiles with Pop.

Love this sweet little hand.

Jockey Hudson ready for his ride!  George is the best dog ever for putting up with this monkey!
