Happily Absent

I can't believe I've almost been a month without even thinking about this blog. January has been busy around here to say the least and I've had to let a few things go that I tend to stress about, like this. Don't get me wrong, I love having this as a way to look back and remember what was going on at certain points but it is definitely a labor of love at times because time is the one thing I feel like I'm often lacking! I plan to get back into the swing of things shortly but I must say I did enjoy my break from even thinking about blogging!

January has already almost come and gone and here we are on January 25th and I'm realizing my sweet, precious, angel baby is 15 months old. This last year and 3 months have been passing at lightning speed but I do think we are all still loving this little guy and his brothers like there's no tomorrow. Hudson in particular has been such a breath of fresh air for me. Knowing he is our last has made me so much more relaxed as a parent and I love that care-free feeling because anyone who knows me well knows that "care-free" doesn't typically describe me! He naps when he needs to, eats when he's hungry, snuggles any chance I can get him to, and is learning to give the best kisses around. He loves attention, his brothers' toys, but especially his brothers. He really does think they hung the moon and they are the sweetest, most patient, and loving siblings anyone could ask for. I am so overwhelmingly in love with my sweet family and have loved every second of loving them and being in the moment with them this past month. I am one lucky lady and hope I can continue to feel so at peace with where we are.

Carter has been through several little phases lately, but one that was too funny was his "school" phase. He would come home from school and pretend to be teaching Cooper all sorts of things but their day was completely planned out - they'd read a story, then have a snack, then do a craft, then math, etc. and he would time each activity according to the agenda he created:). School was held in the bonus room in a tiny little corner and he would tape papers he made all over the computer desk for Cooper to learn. This one made me laugh out loud when I realized what it said. This little boy sure makes my heart smile. What did I do to deserve such a kind, thoughtful, and smart son?!

He is very into spelling and sounding things out if he doesn't know the correct spelling as you can see;).

I think "attic" is my favorite and I think "rur" is really "ruf" but the picture doesn't show it.

My parents took Carter and Cooper out of town for an overnight trip to my grandparents in South Carolina to celebrate my granddad's birthday. The boys had so much fun and Jamey and I made the most of their time away by painting our kitchen, den, and kitchen cabinets. Hudson was fun to deal with amidst the chaos as you can imagine but the work is over and we love the outcome of our hard work! Hudson loves the rearranged furniture and has figured out how to climb up on to all of it and is quite proud of himself for doing so.

Jamey has a kindle fire and the boys think it's their toy most of the time. I'm amazed at how quick they are to learn how to use things like that! I'm embarrassed to say Carter sure can kick my you know what at Angry Birds and will frequently have to tell me how to beat some levels!

Good morning! This is my favorite trick, standing up by myself on the couch and looking at my audience in the kitchen!

I can't tell you how awesome it is having my parents right around the corner. They came over for dinner the other night and Hudson couldn't get enough of Pop. I love how Hudson loves them so much and goes right to them and often prefers them over his mommy and daddy.

Pop blowing on Huddy makes him close his eyes and laugh hysterically.
Kissing is still a work in progress:).
Cooper has moved from his normal perch in the chair to the middle of the couch for optimal TV viewing. I think he would stay there all day if I let him. He can zone into the TV like I've never seen!

Sweetness
Jamey will LOVE me for this one! Thankfully I don't think he ever looks at this. I just thought it was funny all the technology going on without conversation at the kitchen table while I had been bathing Hudson upstairs!
Someone has new shoes and I think they just might be the cutest things around!

Sugar Mountain

After Christmas I worked a few shifts and then we were off for our annual trip to the mountains to visit Brian and Sarah and celebrate Christmas round II with them. Last year my mom had surgery so they weren't able to make it but this year we were fortunately all able to come and had an absolute blast. We sledded on the little bit of snow left, hiked, saw the animals at Grandfather, shopped, ate awesome food, and rang in 2012 with some of our favorite people in the world! The boys were all three so good the whole time and I think we just really had a great time and enjoyed each other's company. We were so sad to leave but happy to be home and get settled back in and into our normal routine. Thanks so much for being such wonderful hosts and we look forward to next year already! Love you guys so much!

Cooper and Willie getting reacquainted:).
Sarah and sleepy Hudson before bed.
Cooper with Willie the sled attack dog in pursuit!
My sweet poser.
Carter the rock-climbing machine at Grandfather.

Cooper getting a boost from Brian to check out the deer.
Off to the car to head to the swinging bridge! Sarah how many Florida tags did we spot?!
Brian and Sarah with the boys at the bridge.
Hudson's first trip across the swinging bridge in 2011.

I love this crazy child! He was very cute and apprehensive about climbing on all the rocks but once we told him to just pretend he was Spider-man he was an expert climber.

Family photo minus Carter who is just below us! I forgot to tell Brian you have to aim a little low on my camera:).

Yes! It's time for presents!
I sure love giving kisses to my new otter! Thanks so much Brian and Sarah!
Too pooped to party! Coop fell asleep on the bed watching a movie one night.
Pop and two of his boys.

Hudson sure gives good kisses!

Checking out some old school pictures of Sarah from a Grandfather book.
Pile up on Mommy!
Too cute of Hudson not to include!
Best idea ever...tabletop ping pong. We had so much fun and Dad was the definite champ but Sarah spanked us all pretty easily too.

We were so lucky to have a happy baby the whole trip, with the exception of car rides!
Hudson's face when he knows you're taking his picture. He loves George and thinks he is his personal horse!
Brian wasn't really feeling the "reinbeers" I gave him but I thought were cute!

Sweet bedtime Carter reading Hudson's new book to Brian.

Sarah decided to enlighten my parents on some terminology they had never heard before, hence the faces!
Ready to ring in 2012 in style, moldy jackets and all:)!
