We had to go outside with our future astronauts (as they like to claim!) to check out the supermoon! Cooper was petrified that it was going to be loud so he covered his ears the whole time. It honestly wasn't very impressive but we did have a lot of clouds around so maybe that was part of the problem.

Welcome Spring!
We are LOVING the nice weather we've been having lately and we're spending as much of it as possible outside! Hudson has been a good sport and doesn't seem to mind strolling around the street or hanging out in his bouncy seat while the big boys play.

We could hardly wait for NC State's Farm Animal Days this year and as usual, the boys had a blast but word is apparently out about our little find because it was ridiculously crowded. They held baby chicks, saw horses, cows, pigs, goats, rabbits, turkeys, etc. and loved every second of it, well almost!
Cooper needed my help to hold them but Carter was so sweet to let Coop check out the one he was holding:).

Now for the unhappy part! Cooper was eagerly awaiting the strawberry ice cream after seeing the animals and was less than thrilled when they informed us they were out of strawberry. I got him vanilla instead but that just wasn't going to cut it for Mr. Stubborn (where could he get such a trait!).
My sweet pouting boy.
Hold on a second, maybe vanilla isn't so bad!
Yeah Mommy, I actually like it!
He thankfully came around and was nice enough to share with Carter so we could head home as Hudson's patience was running out.
We have a beautiful tree next to our driveway that Carter likes to climb. It's so sad to me that the blooms are only really pretty and abundant for about a week but we enjoyed it while we could!

Babies Don't Keep Round 2
I know I've put this poem on here before but can't seem to find it! It's one of those things I try to remind myself of when I start feeling bogged down with all the day to day tasks that I tend to stress about!
Mother, O Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing, make up the bed,
Sew on a button and butter the bread.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She's up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I've grown as shiftless as Little Boy Blue,
Lullabye, rockabye, lullabye loo.
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo
The shopping's not done and there's nothing for stew
And out in the yard there's a hullabaloo
But I'm playing Kanga and this is my Roo
Look! Aren't his eyes the most wonderful hue?
Lullabye, rockaby lullabye loo.
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

Family Fun
It had been way too long since we'd seen Nunu and Pop and we had such a great time with them when they came for a couple days! My mom's recovery from her surgery has been a much longer process than we all anticipated making travel pretty difficult but we couldn't take it any longer! Two months was far too long and hopefully the longest we'll ever have to go again. The boys adore them and were thankfully super well-behaved the whole time, which made for happy grown-ups and happy kids!
Pop loving on Hudson when they first arrived!
What a crew! Hand turkeys, activity books, soccer, catch, ice cream trips...you name it we did it!

Hudson getting a taste of daylight and warmer weather - yahoo!
Bear has jumped out in the lead as the favorite animal of the moment for Coop. He is well-loved to say the least with ketchup stains, holes, a floppy neck, and stuffing coming out to prove it.

Bear, Pop, and Coop watching trains.

What you lookin' at?

If the boys don't greet me in the garage as I pull in from work, this is where I find them patiently waiting and playing their leapsters. It makes my morning to see them so happy to see me and to be playing nicely together!
Hudson getting some love on our mountain trip.
If at first you don't succeed...
try, try...
again...until you give up because your 14lb 4 month old has cheeks that weigh him down so he won't look at the camera!
I love that they love each other.
This is how Coop rolls. He'd prefer no unds at all but we have to draw the line somewhere!
My tummy baby loves to lay this way and check things out!

Sweetness and Sadness
I absolutely wish I had a tape recorder handy at all times so that I could capture the funny things said, the cute conversations between brothers, etc., etc., etc. that occur on a daily basis around here but my sleep-deprived memory will have to do!
Let's start with sweet Carter. I am truly blessed to be his mom - he has the kindest heart of any 5 year old I know and is definitely wiser than his age would indicate. My sister-in-law Sarah's dad passed away last week after a long and courageous fight with leukemia. Carter knew he had been sick but he'd become progressively worse in the past few weeks and was in the hospital in Boone. I think we all knew his passing was imminent but just didn't know exactly when and our hearts were breaking for Sarah and her family dealing with it all. Carter had just gotten off the phone with my brother Brian one night before bed and was particularly sweet, telling him how much he loved him and Sarah. When I put him down that night I was telling him a little about how Mr. Fields was really sick and had something yucky in his body that would probably take him to heaven soon. Carter is pretty sensitive so I was expecting tears but he looked at me with his little insightful look and said, "Mommy, I know one thing Sarah's daddy won't need when he's in heaven! He won't need anymore medicine because God will make him better again!" I think I had chills to my toes to hear such sweet, simple words that absolutely summed it up.
We've had lots of heaven talks in our house with our dogs both dying last year so Cooper's first comment was that Mr. Fields would take care of Woody and Hallie in heaven and make sure they had lots of dog food! He was quite the dog lover so hopefully he's living it up and doing just that. Cooper's been very inquisitive about it all and has asked lots of questions about where heaven is, what it's like, do they have houses there, what do they have to eat, and on and on and on. We were in the car when Coop started asking all this and according to Carter, heaven has everything you could every want: big houses, lots of fruit, veggies, and fish sticks for Cooper, and even a Geo-Trax train for the little kids but the really old people don't care about that because they don't really like toys:).
The boys were unbelievably good for our trip to the mountains for the funeral and we had such a special time remembering an amazing man. The weekend was much more of a celebration of Mr. Fields' life instead of dwelling on the sadness of it all and it worked out perfectly. We heard awesome stories about him from friends and family and cherished every second we were there. If you would like to read more about him, here's the link to his obituary. His was posted on 3/3 so you have to scroll down a little and his name is Hugh Andrew Fields and what a legacy he left behind!

Goodbyes Aren't Easy
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
- To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
- A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
- A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
- A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
- A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
- A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
- A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
- A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Happy Valentine's Day and Buddies
My computer time at home is limited to say the least but I do try to take lots of pictures so when I get the chance to sit for a few minutes I can at least show you what we've been up to! The boys were super-excited to celebrate Valentine's Day and were thankfully not too disappointed once they realized it wasn't on the same level as Christmas regarding what they'd be getting. They were spoiled with movies, candy, coloring stuff, etc. and Cooper and I had fun making cupcakes together while Carter had a Valentine's Day playdate with a little girl in his class.

This little guy has found his thumb and loves to suck on it every now and then if a paci isn't close by!

Three of my favorite sweet faces!

I love that Hudson is trying to eat Coop's hand! His rooting reflex is out of control!
They look like two old men watching a movie together.

Happy Baby
Sweet Hudson is full of grins and giggles these days and we all can't get enough of them! Carter and Cooper love making him smile and seeing his reaction to them. A day doesn't pass where I don't here the boys tell me how sweet Hudson is and how much they love him. Cooper always says he's so glad Hudson came out of my tummy. We are all happily smitten and love having this little fella around.

He's definitely too small for the exersaucer as his feet don't come close to the ground but we gave it a try anyway!

I put Hudson down for naps awake but want to snuggle him a little more at night before putting him in his crib. I'm sadly realizing the days of holding my own sweet, sleeping baby are numbered so I guess I'm taking advantage while I can.
Cooper still loves to hold him and wants me to take his picture when he does so!
